Established on March 16, 1960, Meridian Assurance Corporation traced its roots in Escolta, Manila where a group of foremost bankers and forward looking businessmen, and well-respected figures in the banking industry formed the core of the company.

In 1981, following the retirement of its pioneers, the Company was brought under the auspices of the Ortigas family, which infused into the company not only financial strength but more importantly, wealth of experience and expertise in the fields of insurance and financial services.
